Oracle 18c Database – Autonomous Database Cloud

Posted by at

At Oracle OpenWorld 2017, Oracle Chairman of the Board and CTO Larry Ellison unveiled his vision for the world’s first autonomous database cloud. Powered by Oracle Database 18c, the next generation of the industry-leading database, Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud uses ground-breaking machine learning to enable automation that eliminates human labor, human error and manual tuning, to enable unprecedented availability, high performance and security at a much lower cost.

Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud is a next-generation cloud service built on the self-driving Oracle Autonomous Database technology using machine learning. Machine learning enabled the automation of Oracle’s next gen database as well as cybersecurity system, which is in the process of becoming fully automated.

It is disaster for it Industry. It will be certainly cut-off jobs of DBAs, PL/SQL developers. But students and teachers have an opportunity to change/focus in different arenas like Cloud computing.

I think DBAs need to be more focused on Applications now. Data Security, Architecture Design, Schema Design, Tuning and also various other things for which DBA is required. Yes if someone is limited to Installation, Patching and Backup/Recovery, he needs to upgrade quickly. Majority of the DBAs do backup, recovery and patching only. I think they should now switch to other databases otherwise it will be too late for them. Oracle ditched them so badly. With cloud repeated maintenance jobs like Installation, Patching and Backup/Recovery are at risk. Data Security, Architecture Design, Schema Design, Tuning and also various other things for which DBA is required.

New opportunities will be emerged into CLOUD COMPUTING AND Machine learning arenas.

What is the salary at which most of the software engineers get stagnated in India?

Initial Struggle

Initially you have to be useful to everyone around you, peers, your manager, his manager.

Thus be predictable in both quality and quantity of work given to you. Be predictable in the time you arrive and time you leave. This has to be coupled with a pleasant behaviour. NEVER bad mouth ANYONE ANYWHERE to ANYONE. The reason is this can be used against you when you least expect it. Treat your friends like they have the potential to become your enemies, and your enemies like they can become your friends.

Your first important task is to collect information. Vital information is NEVER given in conference rooms. Most of this is TRADED at coffee time, lunch time etc. Learn to join these groups. You will be amazed to see how many people join there without bothering about their levels. Somehow vices need company, and that is done without levels, most of the time.

This information is vital to know what are the future projects coming, who is going to be in charge. Make friends with sales, they know what bids have been submitted and what technologies are in demand.

Mid Level – don’t get stagnated

When you went in market and came to know that what you was doing is obsolete. No one will pay you for that and since every day you was doing repetitive things without any innovation, You was not able to think out of box. You may depressed, even you thought to leave IT. But if IT, programming and software is your passion. and, upi know you can only survive in this industry then start to fight .

You need to start to learn any NEW technology which has growing demand in industry. Bring books start to learn online, videos, MOOC .. every source from which you can learn. Decide to crack the certification and do it. After you will Certified NEW Tech Developer. I will got a project in your company (they took internal interview and you need performed way better than they expected ).  After around few months you may start to give interviews outside and yes, this time you will getting 2 to 3 interview calls every day. You will in high demand and they will offering way beyond your expectations.  Stay there till you are learning new things there. When your learning stops, You may switch its that simple .

Salary never get stagnated till you have capabilities, skill set and innovation . If you are at an obsolete technology then start changing your tech. Always be in touch with industry, keep learning, reading. You are in IT, so it doesn’t mean that they will pay you just to fill excel and do managerial task. It’s in your hand that you want salary to get stagnated or want to get salary as much as google CEO .

There is no limit !! Keep learning ..

If you’re ever stuck at this point then it clearly means that you’re not doing any good at your current work so you’ll possibly get fired or laid off. But this is a worst case scenario! So even if you’re performing better than avg you’ll get some hike in your salary at the end of yearly cycle.

Given you started as a fresher in some IT company, you’ll spend initial 2–3 years on writing code and learning software engineering(Analyst/Developer). Once you cross this milestone, you may get a chance to deliver a module(Associate/Sr. Software Engineer/Project Lead), which will require you to learn additional skills and your salary is still on way up. Once you complete 7–8yrs you’ll be more visible to the business and will be leading a team of developers and grads(VP/Project Lead/Project Manager) and after running some successful projects your role will be more inclined towards business and less towards technical stuff(ED/MD).

Regardless of the organization, this model should remain more or less same and salary will keep increasing YoY. The difference will be quite significant when your designation changes.

It also depends on the firm too. Mostly Investment Banks( Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley), Leading Product Based companies(Google, LinkedIn, Amazon) and well funded startUps(Flipkart, Ola) has better pay than Service Based companies such Infosys, TCS or Accenture.

Most of the work done by IT services companies does not require application design or architecture skills. A lot of it can be done by people with a good understanding of the domain and a decent understanding of technology. This is generally found in the three to five years experience level. There might be a need for someone with five to ten years experience to lead the team and have a holistic picture of the project. But such roles are limited. This makes it difficult for a lot of people to continue in the technology steam after about eight years of experience. They then have to move to the management stream.

So, in order to survive in an IT services company after 10 to 15 years of experience, you either need to move into an architect role, move into the management stream, be willing to compromise on salary or find a niche, like domain or process expertise, that adds value to the company.

Life at every level involves both collaboration and competition.

Permanent magnet DC motors

Posted by at

The main obstacle for making domestic wind turbine is lack of proper motors in India.

My first target is to search proper , durable and most important cheap, affordable motor for wind turbine. Ig fail to search readymade such type of motor then learn technology and make one by yourself.

Permanent magnet DC motors work as generators, but they weren’t designed to be generators. So they aren’t great generators. Some types of motor are a lot worse than others. When used as generators, motors generally have to be driven far faster than their rated speed to produce anything near their rated voltage. So what you are looking for is a motor that is rated for high DC voltage, low rpms and high current. Steer away from low voltage and/or high rpm motors. You want a motor that will put out over 12 Volts at a fairly low rpm, and a useful level of current. So a motor rated for say 325 rpm at 30 Volts when used as a generator, could be expected to produce 12+ volts at some reasonably low rpm. On the other hand, a motor rated at 7200 rpm at 24 volts probably won’t produce 12+ volts as a generator until it is spinning many thousands of rpm, which is way too fast for a wind turbine. So shop for motors accordingly.

Programming language trend at codefest Hackathon

Posted by at

A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development and hardware development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on software projects.

It’s interesting, then, to see what language programmers turn to when they’ve got their pick of the litter — when they’re coding not with some bosses’ wishes in mind, but when they’re just cracking away for a project at Codefest Hackathon.

At Hackathons

Codefest at Hackathons

The Top 10 Languages At Devpost’s Hackathons:

  1. HTML/CSS (see note below)
  2. JavaScript
  3. Python
  4. Java
  5. C/C++
  6. PHP
  7. Objective-C
  8. C#
  9. Swift
  10. JSON (which isn’t … really a programming language, but is on their list for some reason, so I’m including #11 too)

HTML/CSS and Javascript topping the list seems pretty predictable (cue “scripting language” vs “programming language” debate) — they’re forgiving, don’t require a compiler, run in the browser rather than a specific OS, and tend to be the first languages new coders learn. If you’re walking into a room of strangers looking for a team (as is often the case at hackathons), those languages will be pretty universal.

Note: HTML isn’t quite a “programming” language — it’s a markup language, meaning it’s a means of laying out the elements of a document. But it’s a “language” none the less, and one that pretty much every web developer taps endlessly, so we’ll let the semantic stuff slide.

It’s surprising to see Swift up there already, though — Apple only introduced it 13 months ago.

(more…)

Worldwide, the only six institutes in India ranked in the top 300 of the QS World University Rankings of 2015 are IISc Bangalore (at 147) and 5 IITs, IIT Delhi at 179, IIT Bombay at 202, IIT Madras at 254, IIT Kanpur at 271 and IIT Kharagpur at 286. The only Institute that was listed in the top 400 by Times Higher Education rankings was IIT Bombay in the 351-400 category. The Times Asia Rankings featured IIT Roorkee, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Madras at 55th, 57th, 65th, 69th and 78th respectively.
